Wishing you all a happy 4th of July weekend and a renewed sense of pride in our country and appreciation for our freedom in the coming year! Here are a couple pictures of our day:
I came, I saw, I conquered! Well, I'm working on the conquering part. We all need to toot our own horns occasionally, so I am going to take a brief moment to do so. I know that whenever I get anything done, it makes me motivated to something else. Do you feel that way too? It's like the momentum takes over and you just start rolling! I usually roll right into a brick wall (i.e. children, etc.) And we, as parents, don't get the praise we should sometimes because it's just expected we do 'stuff'. Well, I have pretty much just made sure no one died in the past 15.5 months and the effects on my house are very evident. I like to be neat and organized. I hate clutter. Well, I've been living in massive amounts of clutter and it's just overwhelming and depressing, but it's not like I'm ignoring it on purpose. I make a small dent and it gets covered up 2 seconds later. Can I tell you how sick I am of filling the toy bin to just have the girls think I did...
I started this post back in October. Here is what I wrote back then: "It's almost like someone just flipped a switch. ---Literally--- yesterday my girls were not very verbal and used a series of annoying 'grunts' and 'whines' and all manner of chalkboard-scratching-like noises. But all of the sudden--they are saying words! Not just 'mama' and ' dada ' and 'night-night'. Things like 'blanket' (bin- tet or binty ), 'box', 'open' (ope- ee ), 'stuck' and other seriously cute things, some of which we had no idea they even knew. Jordyn is still quite behind and just doesn't know how to form her words yet, but she does try. Avery's voice is the absolute most adorable little tiny high-pitched pixie voice. Even though she says 'ope- ee ' a bazillion times, over and over again, the sound she makes is so cute we just have to laugh. My favorite thing is when they say each others' names. Or rathe...
I know, I know. You think I'm crazy that we just had our first trip to the park a couple weeks ago. But I tell you, chasing three in a large open area is not my idea of fun. Also, I had to wait until they were out of the 'lets put everything in our mouths' stage...well, at least two of the three are out of that. Ashleigh will put anything in her mouth. I don't know how to stop that. But, I digress. We had a great time. Here are some pictures of the fun:
