**BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME**
Or, more correctly, Because I Love HER!!
My husband is so amazing. He took me out for a once in a lifetime, wonderful night--- including a fabulous fancy dinner and, yes, I am almost not believing it, he took me to see CELINE!!!
I have waited since...well...forever for that. In fact, I didn't believe I would EVER be able to see her in concert. I wanted to see her in Las Vegas so badly, but the timing was just bad and when her show ended there, I thought for sure that I had missed my chance.
Last Christmas my husband put a surprise in my stocking. I could see it poking out for weeks, but he WOULD NOT let me open it. He wouldn't really even give me clues as to what it was! But when I opened it, I didn't believe what I saw! It was the receipt for tickets to see Celine Dion! And she was coming here to town!---albeit it was in October of '08! He had purchased them as soon as he heard she was coming and planned my surprise for weeks and weeks. The near-year waiting for the concert to arrive was totally excruciating!!
But I made it and boy, am I glad I did!
She was just as awesome as I imagined. Tears welled up in my eyes as she took the stage because it was a moment I had dreamt about and never thought would come to fruition. There were songs I wish she would have sung and some I kinda wished she didn't, but all in all, it was soooo beyond fabulous. Especially the finale when she sang 'My Heart Will Go On'. She wore a beautiful flowing dress and was surrounded by suspended platforms filled with flickering candlelight. The room had this beautiful ethereal glow and we felt sort of 'transported' as her crisp and clear angelic voice truly pierced to my very soul.
Music is such a huge part of me and makes me very emotional. It seems that when I look back on my life, (as cheesy as it sounds!) I remember a Celine song to coincide with every important moment----some happy, and some sad. I remember playing her cd's in my 'DiscMan' on a continuous loop when I would go to bed at night. I used her songs to either help calm my tears, or to help me 'cry it out'. The words and her voice inspired me and gave me hope---and continue to do so today! Yes...she is a bit crazy----but that's one of her most endearing qualities! She has a kind heart and her family is the most important thing in her life. How can you hate on that? And it doesn't matter if you are a fan or not---you MUST admit that she is talented. Even though that word doesn't seem to even begin to describe her. At least to me, it doesn't.
I am so happy and privileged to have been able to go to the concert, especially with my best friend. (And, YES! He is a big fan, too!) Dinner was great as well. We ate at the hotel where we stayed on our wedding night (since this was a christmas/anniversary gift). I think what I ate was called Duck Wellington. It was so tasty.
Thank you, Tony, for making a dream come true! It was a magical evening!
Here are some really blurry shots we took with Tony's cell phone and some pics of the concert I found online. Enjoy!
